Baptismal cloth of silk damask with rows of flowers connected by swags and finished around with a border of bobbin lace

Baptismal cloth of cream-colored silk damask, with a pattern and finished all around with a strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Binche lace. Rectangular model where one side is strongly gathered. The cloth is lined with plain cream-colored silk. Damask: the repeating pattern consists of rows of flowers connected to each other with scrollwork. There are two types of flowers, one type per row. Lace: the repeating pattern consists of a river of feathered leaf volutes with flowers and palmettes. The motifs are largely made in linen stitch with openwork edges and in some leaves and flowers net stitch has been applied. The motifs are connected to each other by a ringed snowflake ground. The strip is sewn smoothly onto the damask, with the exception of the corners where the lace strip is pleated around the damask. The underside (outer side) of the lace strip is finished straight with picots.
