Square scarf with central field of natural wool, in the corners paisley motifs and around a double band paisley motifs and flowers. Warp of the central field: wool, weft: wool, weave binding: twill 2:2. Decoration technique: double connection. The characteristic of the weaving of the ornament in these scarves was that at the transition from one colour to the other the threads were wrapped around each other or connected. But additionally, in the next weft the threads were wrapped around each other again when changing colour or 'double connected'. In this double connection small loops of the turns of the threads form on the back of the fabric. These rows of loops are typical for the scarves woven in India. It was a very labour-intensive process and initially one and a half to two years were worked on one scarf.
