Fragment of a sari with a continuous pattern of flowering branches in various shades of red, aubergine, blue and green with outlines in black and red. At the bottom a blue border with on the left a white round cutout in the blue with remains of a VOC (?) or EIC (?) mark and on the left in the same inscription in Tamil (I. Niladantavan); on the right (according to the entry in the year map on the back in the corner 'VOC' mark) pinned paper note with 18th-century script: 'This cloth from the estate of Abr: Ruuds cost 34 st/ 1783' and 'From Wijtze de Vries/ 11/16 E1 Sits at 6 GL f 4 - 2 - 11/1775 Augs: 1' and 'W 38/ 34 st'.
