About this work
Clock of partly gilded, partly patinated bronze, in the form of an oval basket with profiled plinth on legs decorated with pearl and scroll borders. Running around the bulging upper edge is a railing of pointed arches. The enameled dial on the dark patinated central part shows petals and bead borders. Below this a burning torch with ribbon, floral wreath, and leafy tendrils with berries. The further decoration consists of acanthus leaves, thyrsus staffs, olive branches, rosettes, and palmettes.
