Mahogany chair

Mahogany chair with an upholstered seat. The fluted front legs, tapering downwards, with bobbins have houses with small rosettes; the rear legs, receding backwards, are also raised. The trapezoidal back frame is crowned by a vase, decorated with leafy vines hanging over the top rail. The openwork middle piece shows a carved rosette within a rectangular frame and amidst angular bandwork. The incised front rail bears a leaf garland with festoons. Legs on swivel casters. The original upholstery was donated to the museum in 1972, while the chair remained in the possession of the owner; in 1977 the chair was bequeathed, after which the upholstery was reattached in 1978, after restoration.
