About this work

Mourning lappet of black silk. The lappet consists of a silk band from which two strips of silk of different lengths hang, trimmed with black fringe. The shortest strip forms part of a bow sewn onto the band. The band, lined with wool, can be attached to the hat or stick by means of woolen bands. Two pins are inserted into the lining. The initials T.V.B. (Teding van Berkhout) are further applied in cross-stitch on the lining.
