Tablecloth with a bobbin lace border by Helena van Slingelant-Slicher

Fontanel cloth of natural-colored linen with a border of natural-colored bobbin lace on one side: Mechelen lace. The 'brain caplet for newborns' has a triangular model. The lace border is slightly curved, smoothly set and covers a large part of the longest side of the triangle. The curved ends overlap the linen partly. The lace pattern is symmetrical and consists of a vine in bracket shape with three simple flower or leaf forms. The motifs are connected to each other by a lattice ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch and one type of ornamental ground is used. The motifs are provided with thicker shiny contour threads. On the two corners of the cloth, left and right of the side to which the lace is attached, a long narrow linen strip is attached. On the third corner the cloth is marked with red embroidery with HVS/12, which stands for Helena van Slingelant-Slicher.
