About this work
Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Valenciennes lace. Running along the lower edge of the strip is a band in linen stitch, which forms the shallow regular scallops. In each scallop is one dot in the mesh ground, a diamond-shaped Valenciennes ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges. The upper edge of the strip is finished straight and sewn on to a strip of unfinished machine-made tulle. The scallops along the lower edge are finished with picots.
