About this work

Girls' dress of batiste with English embroidery strips. Victorian: With two cuffs and a collar band. Model: Fitted and long bodice with a low waist at the front; but high at the back. Round neck. As sleeves only a single smoothly set strip, which overlaps from above. Front closure with eight buttons in a large split-only front smoothly set skirt with inserts, gathering and double, scalloped strip. The skirt is set loosely gathered at the back; in the line like a queue de Paris. Decoration: Inserts with flowers of six roundels and a heart composed. The scalloped strips have fairly open marguerites. Condition. Washed in 1979.
