About this work

In the 1930s, a difference in length between everyday and formal wear was introduced. Short skirts during daytime, while those worn in the evenings often reached down to the ground. This coat is made with a coarser fabric reminiscent of that used for upholstery. A family tradition holds that Jonkvrouw H.M.A.F. Six wore the coat over floral evening dresses.
