About this work

Handkerchief of linen damask with Orpheus among the animals. Central field: the symmetrical pattern is repeated twice and shows from bottom to top the interwoven name and date 1645, coats of arms of Camminga-Ockinga and Grovestins-Jongema, helmets, seated figure (Orpheus) with various animals around. Standing borders: fine leafy vines in diamond shape with a flower (eight different types) and next to them jumping and running dogs and hares. Lying borders: hunting scene. Corners: Tudor rose. Outermost border of three blocks. (same main motif as BK-1977-314)
