About this work
Children's dress of white batiste with an insert featuring plumétis embroidery. Boat neck and puffed sleeves. High waistline. Gathered skirt with a wide hem. Fastening at the centre back by means of a tunnel belt in the neck and waist. Also a cord in the puffed sleeves. On the insert, bouquets are embroidered with white cotton. The insert, puffed sleeves and neck are trimmed with fils-tirés, English embroidery and picots. Most likely a shortened baptismal gown.
