About this work
Medallion portrait of Mathilde Mengelberg-Wübbe. The image is signed: P. Pander and dated: 1915. It is a plasticine execution used as a mother mold, from which later copies were made in, among other materials, plaster. The portrait forms the counterpart to the portrait of Willem Mengelberg, of which the Rijksmuseum possesses a plaster version (BK-1970-25) and the Haags Gemeentemuseum a marble one. The green plasticine lies on a glass plate in the original oak frame.
