About this work

A large (A) oval tureen, decorated in the Louis XVI style with chased cannelures, garlands wrapped with ribbons, applied festoons and pearl borders. Each tureen has a lid with a knob and stands on four feet. All tureens marked on the underside: Middelburg; year letter K = 1773; maker's mark P above Prie = Philippus Prié; crowned o = assay mark; axe = tax mark. Note: all tureens are equipped with an inner bowl.
