About this work
Length of brocaded Gros de Tours, with locally added extra weft of gold and silver thread. Design: vertical bands with stripes in various shades of pink, interspersed with vertical wavy vines with leaves in silver and gold thread and strings, built from pea shapes upon which a sunflower with bow and feather in various shades and flowers in green, orange, yellow, blue, aubergine, and silver thread (brocading) on a cream ground. Written on the reverse: OX 0275. Stamped on the reverse of the fabric: 47583C.
