About this work
Silk carpet composed of three strips which are again built up from twenty fragments. The carpet is edged with a gold-thread brocaded band and is lined with yellow silk in plain weave. Design of the carpet: horizontal rows, alternating leaning to the left and right large flowers with chinoiserie-like forms in between, in an alternating three-row repetition in yellow, light blue and silver thread on a pink ground with woven, independent vegetative design. On label: number and price tag with text "Louis XIII Brocade hanging 3 widthseach 79"; "L en J 235X"; "19"en "965". Pinned paper note with the letters AE.
