About this work

Fragment of brocaded and gold-threaded silk damask. Design: swirled, bizarrely shaped ornament in gold with a floral arrangement in cream and other pastel tones on an orange ground with large-scale floral design emerging from the vault. Sewn-on bleeding (?) heart. A sort of triptych with band weaving interwoven with silver thread. Lining of silk in plain weave.
