About this work

Liber amicorum with the names of the donors of the silver ensemble on the occasion of the 25th wedding anniversary of the couple Van Tienhoven-Hacke. On the first page a rose branch with a ribbon containing the years 1866 and 1891; on the second page three orchids with the text: "To Mr. and Mrs. Van Tienhoven Hacke on the occasion of their Silver Wedding 12 September"; on the third page: "Offered by their Friends"; on the following nine pages, all decorated with a different flower and/or leaf branch, in alphabetical order the names of the donors of the ensemble; then a page with the names of "The Commission" and at the bottom of this page: J:M:LION. Painter of Coats of Arms and Calligrapher of Her Majesty the Queen Dowager, The Hague inv. & del. Then a page with a photo of the ensemble from the firm Hoeker & Zoon, Amsterdam. The book is bound in blue leather and the pages are silver on the edges. All images and names are respectively hand-painted and hand-written.
