Fan leaf of parchment (?) with a 'Floralia' with Vestal virgins and on the reverse a medallion with two playing, naked children and a little poem, between two cornucopias, birds and butterflies

Fan leaf of parchment(?) with a representation painted on both sides in tempera. Front: full-page representation, with a Vestal maiden offering incense in a golden vessel at the centre. The composition appears to be built from two parts: on the left, an architectural setting with a perspective view into a walled garden with a shell-shaped fountain and buildings and mountains in the background; on the right, a garden with a pond(?) and mountains in the background. In the colonnade on the left appears Plenty, who with a cornucopia in her hand walks towards the women who bring flowers and wreaths to the statue of Flora, which is placed in a niche between the busts of an unknown god and the goddess Artemis/Diana. To the right of the offering maiden sits a sad-looking woman, Melancholy (daughter of Kronos/Saturn), watching two dancing children who cannot cheer her up. She is seated on an octagonal stone, referring to the fact that Saturn is also the god of geometry.
