About this work

White linen damask napkin with an allegorical representation of the Peace of Rastadt, 1714. Below each other, a repeating mirrored pattern of: 1. a mounted trumpeter with "Pax" on the saddle, followed by a timpanist; 2. Emperor Charles VI with the text below: ERIT OPUS IVSTITIAE/PAX ISA 52,17 (According to Isaiah 52:17: the fruit of righteousness will be peace); 3. The coat of arms of Burgundy (Spain with the coat of arms of France in the escutcheon). Running floral borders. Embroidered in red in the lower left corner "431".
