About this work

Brooch or lapel pin 'Bloem' (Flower), in two colors of gold (yellow and red). Together with the pendant 'Bij' (Bee), the two pins symbolize the post-World War II baby boom. The red-gold heart of the flower is the same as the head of the insect. However, it is unlikely that the brooches were worn together simultaneously. The flower has a cannon clasp.
