About this work
This merry group of people drinking and making music around a dilapidated arch is very playfully rendered. The portrayal of the figures is almost caricatural. The modeller lavished attention on details of the clothing and the facial expression of the figures, as well as the pipe and the typically Dutch tobacco box on the table.
