About this work

Small bust (bustino) of the young Jesus all'antica with short hair and no beard, and a mantle draped lightly and asymmetrically over his shoulders. The face is turned slightly sideways and has a serious, not to say sad, expression pointing forward to his crucifixion on Golgotha. The eyeballs are left unworked, enhancing the classical appearance of the bust. The hair is chiseled with a small punch.
