About this work
The aigrette consists of a central medallion, built up from flowers, leaves and fruits executed in gold, diamond and pearls, and placed around a large sapphire in a rectangular, tapering setting. The medallion is crowned by a narrow crown with fleurons with behind it seven symmetrically arranged feathers, each set with table-cut diamonds. The reverse is enameled in symmetrical floral patterns, on the feathers and the ends combined with paillons. Against the reverse a hook in gilded silver is attached, half of a clasp with which the jewel can be fastened to the hat.
