About this work

The emaciated body with a cinched waist has a pronounced ribcage with a side wound and a slightly arched stomach. The thin loincloth is drawn more or less symmetrically in fine folds between Christ's legs and fans out on both sides. The long slender legs are lean and show tense tendons and muscles. Christ's head hangs down and has an open mouth and closed eyes: Christ is depicted as dead.
