Tea Caddy

The tea caddy has a rectangular body, closed at the bottom and top by a straight smooth edge, a cylindrical neck, and a removable lid. The lid has a straight wall, a domed top with an overhanging edge with godrons, and is closed by a jointed smooth knob. All parts of the lid and the bottom edge are decorated with hollow ribs, which on the lid wall and on the bottom edge of the caddy are combined with standing acanthus leaves with edges. Scenes are applied to the top and the wall of the body. On the short sides, two different mountain landscapes are visible on the top, one with a tree and a pavilion, the other with a blooming Prunus japonica. The theme is continued more extensively on the wall of the body. On the front and back, the blooming Prunus and peony branches are placed in pots on small tables, and the rocky landscape is furnished with a fishing man in a boat, three women in kimonos, one with an umbrella, a small dog, and a bird in the air.
