About this work
This ring was found as a ground find in Bredevoort (Gelderland). It appears to be a ring made in Amsterdam by the goldsmith Pieter van Os; the date letter refers to 1782. The ring is in very good condition and has not been restored. Examination in our metal workshop reveals a gold content of 21.6 carats (90%), which is relatively high and indicates it was not made as 'work gold' (pieces produced in large quantities and usually imported from elsewhere).
