About this work
Music has long been of great importance at festivities such as military parades, coronations, royal weddings, and funerals. It lends a gathering solemnity and grandeur. Special corps for this music have existed in Europe since the Middle Ages. This exhibition highlights various types of music corps and their instruments, from the 16th to the 19th century.
