About this work

A frieze from the left side of a fireplace mantel. A procession of advancing putti begins at the sides, which are closed by hanging festoons. The frieze continues into the architrave and shows in low relief a continuous procession of putti, who from both sides with offerings and garlands and while playing musical instruments advance towards an altar in the center, upon which the sacrificial fire has been kindled (see BK-BR-308-1). The architrave and cornice are missing.
