About this work

Collar of natural-colored bobbin lace, Valenciennes lace. Made of a double-folded strip of lace, with a narrower, gathered strip sewn at the fold line. A mother-of-pearl button is attached on one side. The double-folded strip features a repetitive motif of ivy leaves on a square mesh ground, surmounted by a row of slightly offset rosettes. The upper edge of the strip is unfinished. The lower edge features shallow shells formed by linked wheels.
