About this work
Semi-oval fragment of black bobbin lace: Chantilly lace. Scattered pattern with dots on a fine hexagonal mesh ground. Along the curved side runs a scalloped edge of large leaves. Above the large leaves a flower branch with round-leafed flowers alternating with a flower branch with flowers with heart-shaped petals. The other sides are cut off and not finished. The lace is possibly a fragment of a hat veil.
