Bobbin lace volants with diamond-shaped medallions

Volant of natural-colored bobbin lace: Parisian lace. The ground is divided into two, a Parisian ground with clover leaves at the top and a tulle ground below. In the latter is a symmetrical pattern of rhomboid openwork medallions with side scrolls crowned by a flower between two leaves. The leaves, side scrolls, and a series of small flowers and vines in the shell edge stand in three closed swags loosely above one another. The motifs are made in linen stitch and provided with contour threads. A rose ground is used as a decorative ground. A portion of the top has been cut and subsequently finished with a narrow sewn-on band of lace. Also, a portion of the top left side has been cut, with a curve extending to the bottom.
