About this work

Panel of oak wood, possibly from a cabinet. It bears, within a lying oval cartouche with punched strapwork and cherub heads, two stags climbing on either side of a tree. The corners of the panel are occupied by geniuses representing the four elements: Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. Now in a modern frame.
