About this work
Hexagonal bottle (jug) of stoneware on a spreading foot and with an egg-shaped body and narrow, short neck. Profiles on the foot. Covered with a brown engobe and painted with enamel colors in blue, red, green, yellow, black and white. In each compartment a printed and applied decoration in relief of a personification of the planets (SATVRNVS, JUPITER, MARS, SOLL, VENUS, MERCURIUS) and a coat of arms carried by an angel. In the compartments of Saturn and Jupiter the date '1689'. On the shoulder flowers in relief. The coat of arms is an adapted version of that of the Nuremberg family Neudörffer. Creussen.
