About this work
One of two round plates, turned from wood and entirely covered with a red lacquer layer; in the plate decoration of a floral scroll (BK-NM-1010-279-B and Eastern tree), in gold paint (imitation Eastern lacquerware). The glossy red lacquer shows partly matte spots and a black underlayer shines through. The foot ring at the bottom is pierced and contains a hanging eyelet of copper wire.
