About this work

Painting, applied to the fireplace of a room, depicting a putto (Amor), seated on a vase with 2 birds as handles, Amor holds a burning torch aloft in his right hand, and carries a bow on the left. The vase stands on a pedestal, decorated with a mask, fruit garland, leaf volutes and shell motif. The Amor and the pedestal are painted in respectively grey-white and reddish-brown grisaille tones. The background is formed by a semi-circular niche closed by an arch of leaf garland.
