Pixis of copper with enamel, with the four Evangelist symbols

Pixis of gilded copper and champlevé enamel. The body is cylindrical. The conical lid is crowned by a cross on a sphere. The lid is hinged to the body and has a closure on the opposite side, with a pen that can be inserted between two eyes on the body. The lid and body are decorated with a dark blue enamel ground, upon which a simple scrolling ornament encloses four medallions on the body and four on the lid. The medallions on the lid alternate between the letters SHI on a light blue-green background and an angel on a red background. The medallions on the body display the four Evangelist symbols on a red or light blue-green background.
