About this work
Natural-colored linen textile fragment with woven clavus and sewn-on orbiculus in dark purple. The orbiculus has a central cycle motif with four vases and leaf scrolls, surrounded by an eight-pointed star. Around this, a circle and a broader circle with a continuous braided motif. All in floating thread technique. The whole surrounded by a scalloped border. The clavus has a border with a scalloped frame within which decoration of flower vases, medallions and foliage, the details of which are also in floating thread technique. The orbiculus is more finely woven than the clavus.
