Oval Tureen

The oval tureen has a matching oval stand and a removable lid. The base of the stand is surrounded by a slightly raised, wide rim with an engraved decoration of two ribbons wreathed around a series of rosettes against a background shaded in burnished style. Around this runs an even higher rim, closed on the outside by a rope border. The tureen rests on a straight-sided base. Along the lower edge of the tapered foot is a decoration of obliquely placed knobs. The bulging vaulted, fluted body is connected to the straight-sided crown by a tapered section. This has the same engraved decoration as the stand and a flat top, on which the rim, decorated with obliquely placed knobs, is attached. The vaulted, tapering lid, which is fluted, fits into this. At the top it widens to a platform on which the lid knob rests, shaped like a pine cone on a tapered, profiled foot.
