About this work

Irregularly shaped fragment of yellow velvet with a blue and white pattern. Horizontal and vertical bands of linked circular medallions form a grid of squares. The larger circular medallions show two mirrored parrots with turned heads on a stylized tree of life; the other circular medallions feature a lotus flower. The fields within the squares are filled with tracery work with stars and crosses. The velvet consists of two parts where the pattern does not align. The fragment is mounted on cardboard.
