About this work
Fragment of a round earthenware dish. The soft yellow-white sherd is glazed on the front with light grey tin glaze and on the back with lead glaze. The front is painted with dark blue in such a way that a continuous ornament is created of alternating blue and white square compartments. The white compartments are often turned into leaves by incising blue lines. The whole is enclosed by two narrow blue circular lines and a border of blue stripes. Northern Netherlands, Delft? Originated in Cologne.
