About this work

Linen damask napkin with Christ and the Samaritan woman at the well. Central field: The symmetrical pattern shows two scenes from bottom to top: 1 Christ and the Samaritan woman at the well, above which a pulley. A small bird above the woman's head. 2 Two disciples come with a basket of bread from a city, whose gate is open. Below this scene the text IOAN IIII. Standing borders: a single serpentine border with birds and flowers between. The napkin has no lying borders.
