About this work
These candlesticks are engraved with the coats of arms of Gerard Meerman and Agneta Deutz, who were married in 1651. Agneta Deutz died in 1692 and bequeathed her silver to the Deutzenhofje, the almshouse that she founded in Amsterdam.
