About this work

Covered cup of porcelain with a cylindrical wall and two C-shaped handles, painted on the glaze in enamel colors and gold. On the wall, the portrait of Charles William Ferdinand of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel with the inscription below 'GEBOHREN AM 9ten OCTOBER 1735/ GESTORBEN AM 10ten NOVEMBER 1806'. The other side with his coat of arms and the inscription 'NUNQUAM RETRORSUM'. Gold lines above the foot, on the rim, and on the handles. Marked on the underside with the F, 5, D5.. and X.
