About this work
Sample of natural-coloured bobbin lace with coarse thread as an example of a square ground, consisting of blocks comparable to a closed cross stitch ground. The ground is imitated from laces that were bobbin-made by lace workers in the barony of Brede and in Lille around 1680 in black silk.
