About this work
Collar of bobbin lace - Dutch lace - made using uncoloured and hand-spun wool from a grey sheep. Semi-circular model. The repeating pattern consists of radially placed bands alternately worked in linen stitch and net stitch. Along the outer edge and short sides the collar is finished with an open picot edge. Made by Mrs. Schutten-Putters, director of the lace bobbin association Het Molenwiekje. The association had a 'wool lace department' called 't Web, specialising in bobbin lace with wool.
