About this work
Jug (bearded man jug) of stoneware on a high foot with a globular body and wide neck. The C-shaped handle is attached to the neck and shoulder. Profiles on the neck. Covered with a brown engobe. On the belly in relief a printed and applied band with an inscription in mirror image 'GOTS WRTE BLEIFT IN EIVICKEIT[?]', repeated twice. On both sides of the inscription medallions with portraits and profile, leaf motifs and rosettes. On the neck, continuing on the shoulder, a bearded man. Bearded man damaged. Cologne/ Frechen.
