About this work

The object consists of two parts: the base and the stem with candleholder. They are cast and then turned. The base is flattened conical towards the center and has a raised rim, which also allows it to serve as a drip pan. The stem, decorated with three knobs, one of which is slightly smaller, transitions at the top into a cylindrical holder with two rectangular openings. The stem and holder date from the early sixteenth century and do not originally belong to the base, which dates from the fifteenth century. Some parts are damaged. The stem is soldered to the bottom of the base.
