Val hat of black silk velvet with padded brim and two bands that cross over the head, decorated with silver passementerie and lace. Model: brim built up from natural-colored linen on which on the outside a 1 cm thick layer of natural-colored wool is laid, which is attached to the linen every 1.5 cm with a stitch. The outside is covered with black silk velvet, the inside is lined with blue silk. The brim has four blunt points (every 15 cm). From the low sides two bands run diagonally, which are built up of four separate ovals of black silk velvet, which are sewn together with coarse stitches (linen thread). Decoration: on the black velvet of the brim vertically, every 2 cm, braided strips of silver thread are sewn. The brim is trimmed at the bottom with a cord of braided silver thread; at the top a (1.5 cm wide) passementerie of silver thread over a silk core. At two (opposite each other) under the passementerie a triangular piece of silk brocade (green, yellow, silver) is attached.
