Strip of bobbin lace with a sun in the flower center and oval-shaped interspaces

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: old Flemish bobbin lace with plaited ground. The repeating pattern consists of a faintly lobed oval flower with a sun as flower heart. Attached to the flower is a strongly curved stem with an oval leaf at the end. Various whimsical, not clearly defined leaves fill the rest of the pattern up to the next flower. Notable are the oval-shaped open spaces with different dimensions, but all fairly large. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges. Various decorative grounds are applied in and between the leaves. The rays of the sun are made in form stitch. The top and bottom edges are straight finished, with picots on one side.
